On this occasion Mr. Kanhu Charan Majhi outlined the aims and objective of the Workshop. Mr. Abhaya Tripathy presented and showed the details and objectives of migration programme which was undertaken by DDC in Gaisilat Block of Bargarh district.

During this workshop the real migration situation of Gaisilat block mainly focused on as to how the migrants are exploited by middlemen & bricks kiln owners in destination, which was hugely expressed by migrant labors. According to the survey report of Gaisilat Block more than 47 thousand people migrate. So there is heavy inter and intra state migration in search of livelihood. Out of this more than 2,710 children would be accompanied by their parents. Bargarh district has rich farmlands but still falls under the non-irrigated rain fed area category. Therefore people of this area migrate at a very heavy rate.

Mr. Manabhanjan Padhan shared different schemes for labour welfare and all the migrants were made aware about their rights and were encouraged to get themselves registered and provide appropriate information of destination that they were migrating to. This will greatly help in curbing exploitation of the labourers at the hands of the owners. Mr. Dehuri PDDRDA shared different initiatives undertaken by Government for the welfare of migrants. Where state government has sent notices to all GP levels in migrant prone districts for migrant registration. It will be compulsory to execute this properly as it will help in detecting migration system and boosting hundred percent migrant registration at G.P level with the support of PRI members, Civil society, Police and Administration.

Only then the migration would be safe and exploitation free. Mr. Pranaya Kumar Sahu shared the problems faced by youth migrants. Mr. Sanjib Panda expressed his concerns, when the Government schemes are not properly implemented, which has added to the problem of already increasing high rate of migration and is further increasing at a fast pace.
