This study concerns that category of internal labour migrants in India, forced to eke out aliving at the fringes of society in the most marginal of occupations at their places of destination. It also intends to foster an understanding of the situation of such migrants in times of disaster, such as the earthquake that struck Gujarat, both in terms of the destruction caused, and to highlight their vulnerability in general.
