The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 protects the rights of urban street vendors and regulates street vending activities. This Act came into force from 1st May 2014. It mandates the creation of Town Vending Committees to survey the vendors under its jurisdiction, the accommodation of vendors in designated Vending Zones, and the stipulations for the granting of certificates for vending.
